The birds are chirping, the weathers warming up and the sounds of lawn mowers and weed whackers fill the air of the nation’s neighborhoods. It’s spring and that means that it’s time to get out side. It’s time to plant the garden, get the lawn under control and build a house. Well, that escalated quickly.

Spring is the busiest time of year for builders and the companies that support them. The lumber yards are hustling and bustling. The concrete companies are putting miles and miles on their trucks. And here at Nelson Design Group, it’s no different. This is like the weeks before Christmas for companies like us.
So I got to thinking, what have been our best-selling plans in the last year? I cornered one of our sales representatives and got the info. Here are our Top Ten Best Selling Plans of 2018:
10. Tanglewood Drive (NDG 646)
This 2,000 square foot home features 4 bedrooms and 3 baths with a 2 car garage. This home gives you modern living with that Farmhouse Flair. As you enter the home through the covered porch you immediately step into the Foyer. To your left you will find the Dining Room with plenty of space for those family dinners. To your right you will find Bedroom 2 that also has the option of being used as a study with optional French Doors.
Moving from the Foyer and into the Great Room you find yourself in a large space featuring a brick work fireplace and a built in media center. Moving through the Great Room you find yourself at the Kitchen bar with seating for 4 with a space for the range, dishwasher and sink. The Kitchen also features space for a pantry right beside the refrigerator making it easy to find ingredients for any meal. The Kitchen opens up to a Breakfast Room with large windows facing the rear of the home.
From the Kitchen you can enter a small hallway where you can turn left and go upstairs to the second floor, go straight into the garage or turn right and find the Laundry Area. The Laundry Area features space for a hanging bar as well as a sorting and folding table. Moving away from the Laundry Area you find yourself in the Master Suite.
The Master Suite is made up of the large Master Bedroom and the truly impressive Master Bath. The Master Bath features both a whirlpool tub and a corner shower with room for a linen closet, his and her sinks and space for a small TV cabinet. (The TV cabinet happens to face the whirlpool.) It also includes a large walk-in closet. The Master Bedroom has access to the Grilling Porch that runs along the rear of the home.
If you follow the Grilling Porch to the other side of the home you will find yourself in Bedroom 4 that features double closets. Bedroom 4 shares a Jack and Jill bathroom with Bedroom 3. Bedroom 3 features a small walk-in closet. The first floor is finished off by a full bath in the hallway. The second floor features 3 rooms with additional bonus space. It’s easy to see why this is one of our most popular plans!
9. Spruce Street (NDG 382)
This 1,300 square foot home is a perfect home for busy families. This 3 bedroom, 2 full baths home features a 2 car garage and a cute front porch. Entering the home you find yourself in a small foyer that immediately opens up into an open floor plan featuring the Great Room Kitchen and Dining Room. The Great Room features boxed ceilings and a brickwork fireplace to cuddle up next to on cold nights.
The Dining Room gives you plenty of gorgeous views with a bank of windows facing the rear of the home. The nestled Kitchen gives you plenty of counter space and room for a pantry right beside the refrigerator. This is something that pops up in a lot of our plans. We plan for the convenience of the homeowner, first and foremost.
Stepping back into the Great Room which is the central hub of this home you can go to the right and find Bedrooms 2 and 3 with a short hallway connecting them to their shared bathroom. This hallway also gives you a linen closet and a smaller closet for coats and things.
Returning to the Great Room and proceeding to the left you find yourself down another short hallway with entrance to the Garage, Laundry Area and Master Suite. The Master Suite features a Master Bedroom with boxed ceilings and a Master Bath with two walk-in closets separated by the Whirlpool Shower Combo. This plan is versatile and perfect for a growing family.
8. The Andrew (NDG 1400)
This Traditional Style Home is 2,000 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. This home also features a 2 car Garage for all of your vehicular needs. As you enter the home through the covered front porch with the beaded ceiling you find yourself in the grand foyer.
The foyer features a 12 foot ceiling that gives your home character and makes any room feel larger. To your right is the Dining Room where the ceiling drops to a modest 10 foot high and features a large picture window facing the front of your home.
To the left of the foyer you find the half bath. This is perfect for your guests or if you have small children. Straight ahead of the foyer is a large hallway that connects the rest of the home. Immediately across from the foyer is the Great Room featuring a vaulted ceiling and a brickwork fireplace.
The Great Room also has a bank of windows facing the rear of the home and showing the view of the Screened Grilling Porch. The Screened Grilling Porch has beaded ceilings and a corner outdoor fireplace making it the coziest porch in the neighborhood.
The Great Room leads you to the Breakfast Room and Kitchen Area. The Kitchen features bar seating for 6 and parallel countertops giving you plenty of space to work. Returning to the hallway and continuing to the left you find Bedrooms 2 and 3 that share the Jack and Jill bathroom, the Laundry Area, the stairway to the upper floor and the Garage.
Stepping back into the hallway and moving past the Great Room on the left you will find the Master Suite. The Master Suite features a Master Bedroom with 10 foot boxed ceilings. It also features a Master Bath with his and hers sinks a whirlpool tub, shower and an absolutely massive walk-in closet.
The second floor is all bonus room to be used however you see fit. This home is ideal for families and it’s not hard to see why it is one of most popular plans.
7. Country Club Drive (NDG 769)
This plan, which is part of our Customizable Exteriors House Plans Collection, gives you over 2,500 square feet of living space including 4 bedrooms and 3 baths with a 2 car garage. As you step into the home you are greeted with a high 11 foot ceiling in the foyer. This gives your home a grand space to wow guests.
To the right of the foyer is the Dining Room with 12 foot ceilings and large picture window to give you a great view out the front of the home. To the left of the foyer is the Living Room /Home Theater. This gives you plenty of space to enjoy all of your digital entertainment.
Moving through the Foyer you find yourself in the Great Room featuring built in shelving on either side of the brickwork fireplace. The Great Room features large windows and a door opening up on to the Grilling Porch with its outdoor fireplace.
Adjacent to the Great Room is the Breakfast Room with it’s built in computer center, entrance to the Grilling Porch and massive bay window. The Kitchen features a bar with seating for 4, a pantry and an L-shaped countertop that gives you plenty of space for those large holiday dinner preparations.
Continuing to the right side of the home, you find a Laundry Area that leads out to the garage with its built in storage and the Master Suite. The Master Suite features the Master Bedroom that has a private entrance to the Grilling Porch for those romantic nights without the kids. The Master Bath features a large whirlpool tub, glass corner shower, his and hers sinks and a large walk-in closet.
On the other side of the home, you will find Bedrooms 2, 3, and 4. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a Jack and Jill bathroom while Bedroom 4 has easy access to the hall bathroom. This home is beautiful. Be sure to check out the photos from one of our clients.
6. Annabel Cove (NDG 983b)
This 2,300 square foot home features 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms with a 2 car garage. As you enter the home through the covered front porch you find yourself in the foyer that is open to the second floor. To the right, just past the stairs you find yourself in the Guest Room that can also be used as a study. This Guest Room has access to one of the bathrooms on this side of the home.
To the right of the foyer you find yourself in the Dining Room featuring vaulted ceilings. If you pass through the Dining Room you find yourself in the Kitchen. The Kitchen features a large pantry, a central island and bar seating for 4. Just through the Kitchen you find yourself in the Breakfast Room that features vaulted ceilings and gorgeous bay window that is open to the Grilling Porch on the rear of the home.
To the right of the Breakfast Room you find yourself in the Great Room. The Great Room features a large stonework fireplace with French Doors on either side opening up to the Grilling Porch.
One the other side of the home you will find a Laundry Room, access to the garage, a storage area and the Master Suite. The Master Suite features a massive Master Bedroom with a 10 foot boxed ceiling. The Master Bath has plenty of space for the glass shower, whirlpool tub and his and her sinks. The Master Bath gives you access to the large L-shaped walk-in closet with a built in Ironing Board.
The second floor features Bedroom 3, a separate bath and a theater style balcony overlooking the Great Room below. It also gives you access to the attic for storage. This plan is a great seller and you should take a moment to look at the photos from one of our happy clients.
